BOO! Make the most of this spooky season at home

Halloween is the perfect time to unleash your creativity and transform your home into a spine-chilling spectacle. Whether you’re hosting a hauntingly fun Halloween party or simply want to entertain trick-or-treaters, giving your home a spooky makeover can be thrilling. Here’s how you can create a Halloween haven that’s both eerie and enchanting.

Create a creepy curb appeal

Start with the outside to make a spine-tingling first impression. Drape fake cobwebs across your shrubs, porch, and windows. Add a few fake spiders for a creepy touch. Use eerie lighting such as green or purple spotlights to cast ghostly shadows on your home’s facade. Don’t forget a wreath of twigs painted black or a collection of bats on the door.

Graveyard in the garden

Turn your front yard or garden into a graveyard with homemade tombstones. Cut tombstone shapes out of cardboard or foam, paint them gray, and write funny epitaphs on them. Position them in your lawn with wooden stakes and scatter some leaves, dirt, and old flowers to add to the undead vibe.

Windows of terror

Transform windows into a tableau of terror with silhouette decorations. Cut out shapes of witches, cats, bats, or ghosts from black cardboard and stick them onto your windows. When the indoor lights are on, these silhouettes will stand out to passersby and trick-or-treaters.

Spooky interior decor

Inside, replace your regular light bulbs with black lights to give your home an eerie glow that will highlight white and fluorescent colors. Hang lightweight ghosts from the ceiling using white fabric and balloons for heads. Stretch cotton batting into thin webs and drape over furniture and pictures for an abandoned look.

Haunted hallways

Turn hallways into haunted passages. Line the walls with portraits and pictures with eyes that follow (you can find these online or make them yourself). Add low-lying fog with a fog machine or dry ice in water (use with caution and ensure good ventilation).

Creepy crafts corner

Set up a DIY craft station where kids (or adults!) can make their own Halloween decorations or customize their trick-or-treat bags. Provide supplies like construction paper, stickers, stencils, and markers.

Pumpkin pathway

Line your walkway with jack-o’-lanterns carved with various expressions for a traditional Halloween vibe. Illuminate them with candles or LED lights. Mix in some pumpkins painted with ghoulish faces and designs for variety.

With these ideas, your home will be the highlight of the neighborhood this Halloween season. Enjoy decorating, be creative, and have a spooktacularly good time scaring and entertaining your guests! Happy Halloween from your friends at Choice Mortgage!
